The Bible Print E-mail

We believe the Bible is God's revealed truth about Himself and His dealings with mankind, past, present and future.  We believe that God spoke through Israel's ancient prophets to establish the Old Testament and through the disciples and followers of Jesus to establish the New Testament and that the canon of Holy Scripture was carefully established by the early Church Fathers.  We acknowledge that the Bible was written in Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek and translated into Latin and later into English and that scholars have in the past and continue in the present to seek to capture the original meaning of the texts through modern translations.   We therefore use different translations to help us understand God's truth whilst mainly using the New International Version in our services.

We believe that God is Three in One - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - creator and sustainer of all things and that he is both full of love and holiness.  As our Father he loves us unconditionally, meets all our needs but also disciplines and corrects us for our good.  We believe that Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God, that he was born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, died on a cross for the sin of the world, was raised to life on the third day, ascended into heaven, sent the Holy Spirit and will return a second time as Saviour and Judge.   The Holy Spirit is given to every disciple of Jesus to experience the presence of God and the power of God to live a transformed life.

Man Print E-mail

God created man perfect, in his image and likeness and with a good plan and purpose for all.  Every person that has ever lived is precious to God and has significance and worth.  But we have a problem in relating to God in that the first humans, Adam and Eve, rebelled against God, gave way to temptation and the devil and people and the planet have suffered ever since.  We are born in sin and each one of us has fallen short of God's perfect moral standard.  We are spiritually dead to God, we can't appease God through our 'good works' and live as subjects of the kingdom of darkness.  Unless we get right with God then we will continue to live in the dark, suffer the effects of sin through life and then the terror of eternal judgement when we die.  Thankfully, God has reached out to us in love with a simple but profound plan of Salvation.

Salvation Print E-mail

God sent His Son, Jesus Christ to take the punishment for all sin - past, present, and future.  The righteous requirements of God have been fully satisfied through the sacrificial death of his perfect Son and God has given proof of this by raising Jesus from the dead.  Jesus overcame sin and death, is now alive and working to rescue us from our sin, to bring us into his kingdom, to transform us.  God reaches out to us in love to offer us forgiveness and salvation, the power to live a holy life and the guarantee of eternal life.  Our part is to acknowledge our need, to ask for fogiveness, to turn from our selfish and sinful ways and to believe in Jesus Christ.  This faith is expressed through a life of obedience to his commands commencing with baptism and public confession that he is our Saviour and Lord.  Through these steps we are born again into God's family, we come alive to God and God sends His Holy Spirit to live in us to assure us of our salvation, to empower us to live a transformed life, and to give us hope for the future.  God with us and in us.  Walking through life with a personal relationship with our Creator.  Now that is good news!

Future Print E-mail

Our future is God's future and his future is a good one in which all wrongs are put to right, all injustice eradicated, all sickness and sorrow passes away, poverty is ended and death is no more.  The earth will be renewed and life will be as God intended when he first created the heavens and the earth.  Just as Jesus is risen from the dead and is alive so we believe that having been born again that all disciples of Jesus have eternal life and will one day be raised to life and work with Christ in the heavens and the earth.  But before we get to that great day God will judge mankind collectively and individually for our wickedness, unbelief and rebellion.  There will be a cleansing and renewing of the earth and all those whose names are not found written in God's book of life will be cast into the lake of fire prepared for the devil and his angels.  God needs to act in this way to deal once and for all with the source and destructive effects of evil.  God sets before us the way of life and the way of death. Which have you chosen?
